Green patch

Since I read the last issue of Donna Hay Magazine, I’m dreaming to spend a week-end on the beach ! Pictures are so romantic !
I appreciate anyway, their sense of reality, showing ‘backstage’ , how and what the team had to stand -rain and chill- to shot these lovely pictures !
Meanwhile we’ll be able to show you Castlepoint or Riversdale beach, I will just share this not-so glam but nice urban patch of green: Waitangi park. Renamed from the stream that runs through, the park is located on Wellington waterfront, next to Te Papa national museum.
It’s the first park of this kind, I see here. I mean it’s not this typical English garden with old trees, perfect lawn and green everywhere. No, this park is modern, structured and human hand is felt through straight pathway, surprising sculpture, use of concrete and skate pipe area. Built in 2006, the park was designed by Wraight Athfield Landscape and Architecture, one of the biggest and award-winning practice in New-Zealand.

Depuis que j'ai lu la dernière édition du magazine Donna Hay, je rêve de passer un week-end sur la plage ! Les photos sont si romantiques ! J'apprécie néanmoins, leur sens des réalités, en montrant comment et ce que l'équipe a enduré 'backstage'-pluie et froid- pour faire ces charmantes photos ! En attendant de pouvoir vous montrer les plages de Castlepoint ou Riversdale, je vais me contenter de partager ces clichés pas-si-glam, du non moins plaisant parc urbain Waitangi. Renommé d'après le cours d'eau qui le traverse, le parc est sur le front de mer de Wellington, à proximité du musée national Te Papa. C'est le premier parc de ce genre que je vois ici en Nouvelle Zélande. Je veux dire par là, il ne s'agit pas du traditionnel jardin anglais avec ses vieux arbres, la pelouse parfaite et la végétation partout. Non, ce parc est moderne, structuré et la main de l'homme se ressent à travers les cheminements rectilignes, les sculptures surprenantes, l'utilisation du béton et la présence d'une zone pour pratiquer le skate-board. Construit en 2006, le parc a été conçu par Wraight Athfield Landscape and Architecture, une des plus grandes agences primées en Nouvelle Zélande.Sources: Wellington Waterfront
