Bienvenue, Welcome, Kia Ora !

My name is Viviane, a.k.a Vanille. I’m French and live in Wellington, New Zealand since 2008, with my Hungarian husband, known as Paprika.

The blog was initially set to record our life in this part of the world and has morphed since then. I like to call it my creative outlet. I blog about what I like to do, where I go and the natural environment that never fails to inspire me.

Vanille & Paprika refer to our respective origins. Names that coincidentally correspond to our own initials.
Paprika is the Hungarian spice par excellence and vanille – vanilla in French- is cultivated in the tropical island where I grew up, La Réunion.

The blog has been listed as one you should read by Saveur and if you want to know more about me you may read my interview on SBS Food.

With the blog I have developed a strong interest in photography. And I now freelance as a food photographer.
I contribute to New Zealand magazines and I’ve exhibited my work in Hungary in 2012.
Here’s my portfolio.
